Rooms & Booking
What sets Maison Marsil apart from a chain hotel?

Maison Marsil is an individual boutique hotel, not a standardised hotel concept. Our rooms and our suite are individually designed, with a feel for colours, materials and small details. The building dates from 1897 and is listed, and it has changed and evolved again and again over the years.

With us you have personal contact with the team, from your first request before booking to breakfast in our house kitchen.

Not everything is always perfect or off the shelf, but there is a great deal of heart in all of it. We like hotels that don’t feel like hotels, and we are happy when you feel at home with us and enjoy coming back.

What is the difference between a Room, a Deluxe Room and the Suite?

Maison Marsil has three room categories that differ in size, location and facilities.

Room: Our smaller A rooms are quietly located facing the inner courtyard and have their own balcony. The slightly larger D rooms face the street. Some D rooms also have a sofa bed, which, subject to availability, can be used for an older child or an additional adult for a surcharge of €20 per night for one person.

Deluxe Room: Our individually designed Deluxe Rooms offer extra comfort and have a kitchenette with a kettle for making tea and a small Nespresso capsule machine. Almost all Deluxe Rooms also have a desk.

Suite: Our suite has a separate bedroom, an open living area with a shower, a separate WC, a kitchenette and a balcony. A sofa bed in the living area can be used as an additional sleeping option.

The kitchenettes are intended for preparing drinks and small snacks, not for cooking full meals.

Which room is best for a longer stay in Cologne?

That depends entirely on your preferences. If you like it especially quiet, a room facing the courtyard is a good choice. Our larger D rooms offer a little more space.

Our Deluxe Rooms are also recommended for longer stays: almost all have a desk and a kitchenette with coffee and tea facilities.

Are there quiet rooms facing the courtyard?

Yes. There are quiet courtyard rooms among both our regular rooms and our Deluxe Rooms. Our suite also faces the courtyard. If a particularly quiet location matters to you, just let us know when booking.

Are the rooms air-conditioned?

Almost all of our rooms are air-conditioned. Only some of the smaller A rooms with their own balcony do not yet have air conditioning. If air conditioning is important to you, please let us know when booking.

Is there free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel?

Yes, free Wi-Fi is available throughout Maison Marsil, including in the rooms and our Creative Spaces.

What are the benefits of booking directly with Maison Marsil?

Booking direct pays off in several ways: as a rule, you get the best available rate when booking through our own website. You also have direct contact with our team, benefit from personal service, straightforward arrangements and often more flexibility with individual requests or changes.

The easiest way is to book directly through our website or contact us at hotel@marsil.de.

Can I change or cancel my reservation?

Yes, changes and cancellations are possible in accordance with the applicable booking and cancellation terms. Which conditions apply depends on whether you booked directly through our website, through a booking portal or, for example, through Airbnb.

Families & special requests
Are children welcome at Maison Marsil?

Absolutely! Families with children are warmly welcome. We are happy to help you find the right room for your stay.

The surroundings also have plenty to offer little explorers: the small Oskar playground is right next door. In the nearby Grüngürtel (green belt) there are many larger adventure playgrounds and play areas. And if you are planning a shopping stroll through the Belgian Quarter, you will find a lovely playground at Brüsseler Platz in the heart of the quarter, perfect for a short break between shops and cafés.

Are baby cots or extra sleeping options for children available?

Yes, on request we are happy to provide a baby cot (one-off €10).

Some of our larger rooms also have a sofa bed, which, subject to availability, can be used as an additional sleeping option for a surcharge of €20 per night for one person.

Are dogs and other pets allowed at Maison Marsil?

Out of consideration for guests with allergies, dogs and other pets are generally not allowed.

In individual cases, we can make an exception for small dogs after prior arrangement. An additional cleaning fee applies. Please be sure to ask us before booking. Statutory rules for assistance dogs remain unaffected.

Is Maison Marsil accessible for guests with reduced mobility?

Maison Marsil is located in a listed historic building ensemble dating from 1897. Our house has a lift and is easily accessible in many areas, but does not meet every requirement of a modern, fully accessible hotel.

If you have specific accessibility requirements, please contact us before booking. We are happy to discuss with you what our house can offer.

Can I share special requests before I arrive?

Gladly! Whether you prefer a particularly quiet room, have questions about the facilities or would like us to arrange something for a special occasion, just write to us at hotel@marsil.de. We will try to take your wishes into account wherever possible.

Breakfast & surroundings
Can I add breakfast spontaneously?

Yes, of course. You can add our vegetarian breakfast buffet in the house kitchen spontaneously.

Breakfast costs €16 per person.

Monday to Friday: 7:00–10:00 am
Saturday, Sunday and public holidays: 8:00–11:00 am

Are there vegan or gluten-free breakfast options?

Our breakfast buffet is vegetarian and includes organic scrambled eggs, fresh fruit, muesli, yoghurt, bread and a variety of cheeses.

If you follow a vegan or gluten-free diet, please let us know before you arrive if possible so that we can prepare.

Which restaurants and cafés are nearby?

Maison Marsil is in the middle of one of Cologne’s liveliest culinary and cultural areas. Around Aachener Straße, Rudolfplatz and the Belgian Quarter you will find a wide choice of restaurants, cafés, bars and small independent addresses, and you are right in the heart of Cologne’s art, culture and creative scene.

Directly opposite there is a popular vegan Asian restaurant, and right next door a classic Italian restaurant popular with the Cologne scene. From relaxed neighbourhood cooking to special dinner addresses, much is within easy walking distance.

How far are Cologne Cathedral, Museum Ludwig, the old town and the shopping streets?

Maison Marsil is in the middle of Cologne’s city centre. A shopping centre is right on the doorstep, and you can reach Ehrenstraße, with its many boutiques, shops and cafés, in a few minutes on foot.

It is about a 20-minute walk each to Cologne Cathedral, Museum Ludwig, the old town and the main station. The Gloria, where many concerts take place, is about a 10-minute walk away. Neumarkt, Rudolfplatz and the Belgian Quarter are also easy to reach.

Meetings & events
How much does a meeting room at Maison Marsil cost?

Meetings and workshops in the fireplace room from €79 per hour, the Creative Space from €119 per hour, each plus statutory VAT. The rooms can be booked by the hour or for the full day. For larger corporate events, trade fair events and exclusive use, we are happy to prepare an individual offer. Drinks and catering by arrangement.

Can I book the Creative Space without staying at the hotel?

Yes, our Creative Spaces can be booked independently of a hotel stay for meetings, workshops, photo shoots, interviews or private and business events.

For larger events that use all event areas including the hotel bar, the additional booking of the two hotel rooms directly above is required. This allows us to make sure events and the stay of our hotel guests remain compatible.

Are the rooms suitable for photo shoots, interviews or film productions?

Absolutely. We come from the international creative industry ourselves and know the requirements of photo and film productions, interviews and creative meetings.

Our individually designed rooms offer a special atmosphere away from classic conference and event venues. We are happy to discuss with you which area suits your project best.

Can I book the Creative Space for a workshop or team meeting?

Gladly. Whether a small team meeting, workshop, presentation or creative exchange, our different rooms offer flexible options.

The fireplace room is suited to groups of about 8 to 10 people. The open Creative Space with winter garden and adjoining open kitchen has room for up to 20 people.

For larger events, the fireplace room, hotel bar and Creative Space can be used together. There is room for up to 80 guests in total.

Is catering or drinks available for events?

Drinks can be offered through our hotel bar. For food and catering, we are happy to work with external providers or help you organise it.

Just tell us your ideas, and we will gladly help find a suitable solution for your event.

Can I book the hotel bar or several areas exclusively for an event?

Yes, after prior arrangement, the hotel bar and our Creative Spaces can also be booked exclusively for events.

Depending on the occasion and group size, different areas can be combined. Our team is happy to advise you on the options.
